White oak

White Oak (Quercus alba). One of the preeminent hardwood tree species of eastern and central North America. It is a long-lived oak, with individual trees documented at over 450 years old.

Good hardwood to work with for flooring and furniture. But has a less dense grain than many other hardwoods, meaning it can tear out in chunks and is not ideal for cutting boards or kitchen utensils where the grain spacing may harbor food bits or bacteria.
